The AFL has confirmed the schedule for the 2024 Community Camp program, with teams heading to regional communities across Australia throughout the pre-season.
North Melbourne will visit both South Bendigo and Wyndham as part of the program, with players dropping into local schools, junior clubs, clinics and community events across Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13 to meet fans and help inspire the next generation.
The Roos will return to the Bendigo region for a second consecutive year, after the club’s 2023 Community Camp was held in the area earlier this year.
During the 2023 Community Camp, players visited the central Victorian town of Rochester and connected with locals who were rebuilding their homes after severe floods in late 2022 ripped through the community.
“Our annual Community Camp plays such an important role for our club and our people,” North Melbourne CEO Jen Watt said.
“Not only do our players have the opportunity to give back to the regional communities who give so much to us as members and supporters, but they also have the opportunity to connect with and inspire the next generation of football fans.
“It’s not lost on us how important regional communities are to our game and our club, and we are particularly pleased to be again heading back to Bendigo as well as Wydnham, a region we have held a strong connection with for many years.”
In addition to February’s Community Camp, the club’s engagement in the Wyndham and Bendigo communities will continue throughout 2024 with school clinics to be conducted across the year.
Since the AFL introduced the Community Camp program across the league in 2003, more than one million children have been reached during school and club visits across Australia.
