Unfortunately for Taylor Garner, it was another season ruined by injury for the 22-year-old.

After starting in the North side, his troublesome hamstring gave way in Round 3, and he only played two VFL games for the rest of the year.

Quotes

“The club has really backed me in, not only through my injuries but now with this new deal which I’m really thankful for.” – Garner in April after earning a contract extension until the end of 2018

"I've done a lot of stuff in the gym … and a lot of straight-line running to stretch out the hammy to make sure it's all strong.” – Garner before his VFL comeback at the start of June

What the coach said – Leigh Tudor

“Garns is a player that coaches and other players love having in the side, because you know what you’re going to get from him.

“He had a horror run with injuries and finally we’ve got him right (post-season).

“He deserves to have a good break away, it’s a tough year when you’re in rehab for most of it.

“If we can get a good pre-season into him, the upside is so big with him because he’s got elite qualities with the way he plays.”
